devCad can import/export dat files, so this can be a solution to modify airfoils using more advanced fetuares than Profili.

When you export a polyline to a .dat file you will be prompted if you like to use the original size or to scale it to the x range 0.0 ~ 1.0
This is the right option if you must then import that in Profili like an airfoil.

    Hi,

I have made a.DAT file in DevCad. I say Yes to normalizing the DAT file. When I try to import it to DevWing I get a message First Upper X not equal to Zero and then I get a message First Lower X not equal to zero.

Do you have any suggestion about what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    George Adam

Did you follow the rules to draw the airfoil in the right way?
    Probably not.
devCad doesn't force airfoil rules, ad a dat file can also describe a different shape, for other use.

Thanks for your very fast reply.

I made the airfoil by tracing around a raster scan. I cleaned up the trace and made the whole trace into a polyline.

Can you tell me where I can find the rules that define how to draw the airfoil in the right way?

    Thanks.

    Main rules:
    - horizontal chord
    - TE on the right
    - Start and end of polyline on TE
    - counterclockwise direction
    - smooth curve
    - TE opened if has not 0.0 thickness
